Recalls that the [Deputy Matron] was adept at upholstery. Does not recall where the [Deputy Matron] would sell the items she had upholstered in her flat. Shares recollections of a purchase made by the [Deputy Matron]. Does not recall canoes being made at Haut de la Garenne. Shares recollections of an individual described as not outgoing. Does not recall seeing the individual wearing slippers. States that the [Matron] would not have allowed the individual to wear slippers. Provides description of Gordon Wateridge. States not to be aware of the individual described at not outgoing having a friend who would visit Haut de la Garenen and make jewellery. Provides details of the separation of children into groups at Haut de la Garenne. Recalls that children would be seen by Dr Bill [William] Taylor upon their admission to Haut de la Garenne, after which the children's clothes would be washed, ironed, labelled, and stowed in an individual pigeon hole. States that children would then be taken to their new group at Haut de la Garenne and settled in by their house parents. Recalls staff meeting during which the member of staff suggested children should be placed in family groups so that the children in each family could grow up together. States that the idea was implemented, and the four groups of Aviemore, Baintree, [Claymore], and [Dunluce] were created. Refers to a plan of Haut de la Garenne, linked to the Fire [and Rescue] Service. Refers to rooms on the plan.
