Notes that all members were present with the exception of Deputy A Breckon from whom apologies were received, and lists those in attendance at the meeting. Refers to the confirmation of the Minutes of the Meetings held on 24 February and 10, 24 and 26 March 1999. Refers to papers received from the Attorney General detailing the conduct of the police investigation into complaints made against the former head of mathematics at Victoria College, Andrew Jervis-Dykes. Refers to Mr Jervis-Dykes having been sentenced to four years' imprisonment on 26 April 1999 after pleading guilty to indecently assaulting six pupils and to possessing a video of another pupil being sexually assaulted. Refers to criticisms regarding the conduct of a number of members of Victoria College staff during the course of the police investigation outlined by the police in a report to the Attorney General, particular in relation to the conduct of the Headteacher, Mr J Hydes. Notes agreement between the Attorney General and Mr P Le Brocq, acting Chairman of the Victoria College Board of Governors that an independent inquiry should be commissioned with immediate effect, outlining the proposed terms of reference of any inquiry and proposed action to invite the Victoria College Board of Governors to commission a joint inquiry into the handling of the police investigation by the Victoria College authorities and other matters relating to the complaints made against Mr Jervis-Dykes, subject to the terms of reference being agreed.
