Scope and Content

Includes an introduction and addresses matters including: the lead up to the Inquiry; the States of Jersey Police investigation into historic child abuse; the States of Jersey apology; the Historic Abuse Redress Scheme; the Inquiry; developments around the world; commitment to improvements going forward; continued support to the Inquiry; volume of documentation; witness support for States of Jersey staff and politicians; research for the Inquiry; evidence heard before the Inquiry; the States of Jersey position in respect of evidence heard during Phases 1 and 2; and the benefit of hindsight. Highlights two important themes for the States of Jersey: the testimony of witnesses (the survivors' accounts, lifelong effects and need for therapy and support, happier memories, Children's Service staff members and learning from the past) and looking to the future (lack of investment over time, UK investment, political awareness, no quick fixes and current investment and future projects). Finishes with a conclusion and acknowledgements and appreciations.
