Scope and Content

Relates to claims by a witness known as Mrs A in her written evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry that she had heard that Jimmy Savile paid £50,000 to the States of Jersey in 2008 to keep his name out of the police-led child sex abuse inquiry that focused on Haut de la Garenne. Notes that this was the first instance of Savile's name having featured in the Inquiry, includes comments by Home Affairs Minister Ian Le Marquand dismissing the rumour and refers to Savile unsuccessfully attempting to sue The Sun after the newspaper published a photograph of the presenter outside Haut de la Garenne under the headline Sir Jimmy at the House of Hell.
