• Ex-CID chief defends failure to act on 2006 abuse report. Relates to former police officer Robert Bonney giving his evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry during which he broke down as he recalled an interview with Witness 195, a former resident of Haut de la Garenne, in which Witness 195 cried hysterically and shook as he recounted allegations of sexual abuse whilst a resident at the Home. Refers to an investigation in 2004 after Witness 195 attempted to blackmail his alleged abuser by threatening to expose him, commenting on decision to close the investigation due to a lack for corroborative evidence for a conviction. Refers to the contents of a report by Brian Carter detailing an interview with Witness 195 and comments about the corroboration rule. • Abuse claims 'may be exaggerated'. Relates to comments made by a former resident at Les Chênes known as Mr A in his evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry claiming that some allegations of physical abuse at Les Chênes may have been exagerrated. Includes allegations that he sufered racial abuse from residents and staff and allegations that Mario Lundy and Witness 108 were aggressive and would pinball children.
