Scope and Content

• 'I was bullied by ministers over abuse investigation' / 'I was bullied by ministers over abuse inquiry' by Tristram Colledge. Relates to comments made by former Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard in her evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry accusing ex-senior politicians and civil servants of corruption and bullying. Includes details of allegations by Mrs Kinnard regarding: bullying and sexism by her colleagues in the Council of Ministers; comments made by former Senator Dick Shenton about corruption; public comments made by Frank Walker about the standard of Jersey's child care provision in response to the Williamson Report; and the prioritisation of legislation affecting the finance industry ahead of updating the Sex Offenders Law. Also refers to claims about corruption within the police. • Syvret 'right' to voice abuse fears. Relates to comments made by former Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard in her evidence to the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry stating that former Senator Stuart Syvret had legitimate concerns about child abuse and his dismissal from the position of Health Minister in September 2007 was wrong. Includes comments about Mr Syvret's dismissal. • Ex-minister who suspended Power due to give evidence. Reports that former Home Affairs Minister Deputy Andrew Lewis was to appear at the Independent Jersey Care Inquiry to face questions about his reasons for suspending ex-police chief Graham Power in November 2008 over his handling of Operation Rectangle. Refers to a report by Brian Napier QC in 2010 that concluded that Mr Power's suspension was unfair and unfounded and accusations made against Deputy Lewis that he misled the States over the matter. Includes an article titled Battle of Jersey begins: Standing room only at Save People's Park meeting. Also includes the following articles in the In Brief section: • Women's conference. • 'No bed shortage'. • 4G passes to JT.
