Scope and Content

Sets out the functions and responsibilites of local authorities and their partner agencies in relation to fostering services under Parts 3, 7 and 8 of the Children Act 1989 and sets out the responsibilities arising from the Children Act 2004 and the Children and Young Persons Act 2008 in relation to fostering services. Includes a preface and an introduction and chapters regarding: the responsibilities of local authorities and foster carers; ensuring the best for children and young people; management and staffing of the fostering service; and approving and supporting foster carers. Includes the following annexes: Annex A: Relationship between legislation, guidance, standards and other material. Annex B: Parent and child arrangements.
