Scope and Content

Includes a biography of Marcus Erooga, acknowledgements by Marcus Erooga, a foreword by Liz Booth (Director of Human Resources, NSPCC) and Wes Cuell (Director of Children and Young People Services, NSPCC) and an executive summary of the report. Report includes an introduction regarding the vulnerability of children in relationships with workers and outlining terminology and methodology, and chapters on: value-based interviewing; vetting process and organisational responsibilities; characteristics of "vulnerable organisations" and characteristics of abuse and maltreatment in specific organisational settings; relevant findings from the sexual abuse literature regarding inappropriate staff and volunteers; screening responses; themes and issues arising from interviews with professionals and with offenders convicted of child sexual abuse; and conclusions and issues for consideration. Also includes references, a bibliography and an appendix of terminology.
