Scope and Content

Refers to events leading up to and following the start of the Second World War and the Occupation of Jersey. Describes life during the Occupation, referring to matters including orders issued by the German forces, rationing, resistance, collaboration and the black market, including an account of life in Jersey after D-Day in June 1944 and the arrival of Red Cross parcels on SS Vega and the liberation of the island in May 1945. Includes an account of deportation in September 1942 and subsequent internment in camps at Biberach and Wurzach, and liberation from Wurzach and return to Jersey in 1945. Includes a separate account of food in Jersey during the Occupation. Also includes a covering page providing details about the account and the Court family.
