Photographs of the demolition of Clarence Court to make way for the construction of the Jersey Archive
1997 - 1997
|Scope and Content|
In the 1950s, the States of Jersey purchased the land at the former site of Anthony's Quarry on Clarence Road as a site for housing, resulting in the construction of Clarence Court housing estate. By the mid-1990s, the flats and houses in Clarence Court were derelict and in 1997 the States approved the demolition of these buildings to make way for the new Jersey Archive Centre. Construction began in 1998 and the Jersey Archive officially opened to the public on 24 July 2000.
