People Applying to Return to Jersey After the Occupation

From 1943 onwards people who had left the island prior to the Occupation had the opportunity to request permission to return to Jersey. They were required to apply to the Home Office, with information such as their date of birth, address in Jersey and the UK, as well as the names of family members. These records do not include all of those who were evacuated, only those who wanted to return as soon as possible. There were over 5,500 applications lodged.
