Family History Key Records – Civil registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths in Jersey from 1842 onwards.
There are two sets of civil registers, the records created by each Parish Registrar and a duplicate copy which is held centrally for all parishes by the Superintendent Registrar.
Superintendent Registrar
The indexes of births, marriages and deaths in the Island from 1842 have all been scanned and are available to consult by subscribers. The indexes correspond to the records held at the Office of the Superintendent Registrar. The Jersey Archive does hold copies of the civil registers of all marriages only from 1842 onwards, reference D/E/B
The collection also includes handwritten transcriptions of baptism, marriage and burial registers completed by Messervy in the late 19th century, reference D/E/A. They date from 1540 to 1842.
